Chamomile Tea
Chamomile Tea is a great beverage to drink right before you go to bed for the
night.
One of the greatest benefits of drinking this tea is that it is natural and
healthy for you, so negative side effects aren’t really going to be a thing unless
you are allergic to chamomile.
“Unlike green or black tea, chamomile tea actually
comes, not from a green plant leaf but from a daisy-like plant. Plants in this family produce
tea that is most commonly known for its relaxing, sleep-inducing properties. A
flavonoid, chrysin, found in the plant is partially responsible for its reputation as a
sleep aid” – http://www.naturallivingideas.com/14-reasons- to-have- a-cup- of-

From the same article cited above:
“Chamomile is widely regarded as a mild
tranquilizer and sleep-inducer. Sedative effects may be due to the flavonoid,
apigenin that binds to benzodiazepine receptors in the brain. Studies in preclinical
models have shown anticonvulsant and CNS [central nervous system] depressant
effects respectively… 10 cardiac patients are reported to have immediately fallen
into a deep sleep lasting for 90 minutes after drinking chamomile tea.”
“The University of Maryland Medical Center recommends pouring 1 cup of boiling
water over 2 to 3 tbsp. of dried Roman or German chamomile and steeping for 10
to 15 minutes. Drink this tea three to four times daily, between meals. Pregnant
women and those with asthma should not drink chamomile tea” –
