Can CBT be harmful?
CBT is a form of psychotherapy that can be sometimes taught in a damaging way.
In my opinion, it really can’t be harmful, but your treatment can be ineffective if the following milestones are not being met:
- Do you understand what your therapy is trying to accomplish?
- Are you achieving new measurable goals?
- Are you developing new skills in dealing with your thoughts?
- Are you getting homework?
- Are you never getting out of your chair?
CBT is an active process.
