“Montmorency Cherry Ginger Crisp
- 4 cups frozen Montmorency Tart Cherries
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 2 Tablespoons cane sugar
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1/2 teaspoon dried ginger
- 1 teaspoon butter for skillet
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 3/4 cup cane sugar
- 1/3 cup rolled oats
- 1 stick of butter, softened
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- In a large bowl, mix together Montmorency Tart Cherries, 1/2 cup flour, 2 Tablespoons cane sugar, orange zest, and dried ginger. Set aside.
- Grease inside of 10 inch oven proof skillet with butter. Pour cherry mixture into skillet and spread into an even layer. Set aside.
- In a medium size bowl, mix together 1 cup all purpose flour, 3/4 cup cane sugar, and 1/3 cup rolled oats with a spoon. Use a pastry blender or two knives to mix butter into the flour mixture until butter is evenly incorporated and mixture resembles a course crumb. Spread topping evenly over cherries.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until topping is golden brown and cherries are bubbling. Serve crisp warm or room temperature with vanilla ice cream if desired.”—Click here for the original article and recipe(s)

You will need:
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temp
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
- 2 cups dried sour cherries
Directions:
- “Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheets with parchment paper;set aside. In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, cinnamon, salt, baking soda and baking powder; set aside.

In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, or using a hand mixer, beat the butter and sugars until light and fluffy, 1 to 2 minutes. Add the eggs and vanilla, and beat to incorporate. Add flour mixture to butter mixture, beating on low speed to combine. Stir in the oats and dried cherries.
